Yes I already observed on my Windows 7 that it is a IP based solution, also because the dongle uses for it's configuration a webinterface that is reachable via

You can try this msg as well and see if there is any difference in the interface layout compared to using the linux switch msg, I think they will both produce the same result. The Win switch message in your capture is in packet 20521 (and 20571) it is slightly different from a linux switch msg. Please paste the output of lsusb -v -d 12d1:1f17 here and also for 12d1:1576 when it has switched mode.

There is no ppp dialup interface in any of the two modes, the dongle has direct ip ethernet interfaces where the Win8 mode requires the cdc_mbim driver together with usb_modeswitch 1.26 or higher, and the old Win mode requires the cdc_ether driver and no need for updating your usb_modeswitch executables. My guess is now that either I'm working on a to old version of usb_modeswitch (v1.2.3) or that (my guessed) message content is wrong. Also I enabled the logging in the /etc/usb_nf file but had so far no output in the /var/log/ directory. ĭettaching and attaching the dongle with any variation of the above contents did not result any switch so far and the output of lsusb didn't change.
